Ost & Kjex: Cheesie's Beach Mix

If you're about to leave for you summer's holiday please pack this mix in your bags. Tore Gjedrem (one half from Oslo's Ost & Kjex) made this beautiful mix to chill at the beach. Sounds best blasting out of a cheap ghetto blaster and with the waves breaking in.

Alan Oldham «Cool Is Dead Vol. 1»

It's an honour for us to present you the first part in a possible future installement: Legendary Detroit radio-DJ Alan Oldham (also known as T-1000) had his show «Fast Forward» on WDET. More than 20 years ago he played new music to an everchanging city. Now he recorded a podcast for us called «Cool Is Dead» with his point of view on shoegaze and indie rock – old and new. It's great to have his voice back! Enjoy listening (the tracklist is in the file) and also follow Alan on Twitter:

Mudd: House music my dad doesn't mind

Paul Murphy aka Mudd not only releases some of the most blissed out music nowadays (as Mudd, Mudd & Pollard and Smith & Mudd) but also runs the super tasty Claremont56 label. Here's the first part of an installment he's willing to do for us. Initially dedicated to the theme «house music my mum doesn't mind» but after Paul re-listened to the mix he had to reconsider the whole thing and now it's called «house music my dad doesn't mind» (as on the second track it has a woman being pleasured saying «please me baby»). Still it's a wonderful trip we could imagine hearing on a cruise boat with all the ladies dancing on the deck wearing... Well, listening for yourself!

The Project Club: All The Way To The Bottom

«All The Way To The Bottom» is the name of the mix Steve Lee (of The Project Club) made for us. He recorded it at his bar in Kings Cross – home to his record box and beer. It turned out to be a nice blend of a bit old and new with some unreleased exclusives from Tiago aka I-Boat Captain which is forthcoming on Is It Balearic? and a test pressing from the Seahawks which will be in shops soon. The tracklisting is in the file.
